Hi, I’m Bec…
Welcome to my creative place!

Bec Brockhus, the artist behind Bec's Creative Place.

Bec's Creative Place has been slowly built out of a simple love of playing and creating. I have been creative for as long as I can remember and whether I have my paintbrushes out, my hands muddy with clay, my fingers tied up in yarn, or dipped in something new – if I'm creating then I am in my happy place, making bright and happy art.

  • I have been creative for as long as I can remember and over the years, I have dabbled in all sorts of arts and crafts. Whatever I am busy creating, I find I tend to ‘get lost’ in the process, enjoying the freedom of playing and experimenting until something wonderful has formed. So creating tends to be a messy process for me, then to multiply that mess with each of my varied arts and crafts, each calling for their own set of equipment and materials things can get really messy, really quickly.

At some point in 2021 I found that my storage boxes and dining table just weren’t cutting it anymore. I needed my own creative place that I could escape to, have all my supplies at the ready and get lost in my imaginative mess. So I decided to take over and renovate our spare room to create my own space. Then piece by piece, as I filled those once blank walls, it started to become this bright, happy and creative place. My creative place. And ‘Bec's Creative Place’ has continued to grow from there; from growing social media accounts, managing my own website and online shop, renovating a new pottery shed, showcasing at exhibitions, having my creations proudly in stores and galleries, to winning awards and having sales all over Australia!

It’s honestly been amazing to look back on my journey and what my little love of creating has grown into by simply carving out the time to follow my passion.

  • I am a creative soul and so rather than sticking to any one medium, my work is best split into 3 practices:

Ceramics - my main creative love.
I hand build and hand paint all my ceramics, so you can expect unique pieces every time. Each piece goes through a long and fragile process of building, drying, bisque firing, glaze painting and glaze firing.

Mixed Arts - my original creative love.
I love getting the paintbrushes out, but to be honest, they don’t come out as often as they used to with my ceramics largely taking over. Cue the convenience of digital art however and all that has changed. Now I can be painting and drawing on the comfort of my couch mess free, and put my designs on practical items for your home.

Macrame and Weaving - my occasional creative love.
Although not as frequently, I also enjoy playing with textiles, primarily through the use of macrame and weaving techniques.

And then there is everything in between… all the random projects I dip my hands into from time to time that doesn’t quite fit in any of the above - Its good to keep things exciting!

  • Bec’s Creative Place occasionally accepts commissions, although commissions are currently closed at this time. Follow along for updates on when these become available.

To request a custom piece, please contact me with what you are after. Once the request is received I will review and arrange a Customer Consultation to gather further details, discuss ideas and provide an approximate timeframe and quote for your request.

Once a vision and quote are agreed upon, payment will be made over two online orders via the website. The first payment is a non-refundable deposit of 30%-50% of the agreed upon quote, which is required to be paid prior to any works commencing. On completion of the commission piece, a second payment will be published via the website requesting final payment of any outstanding monies. Order must be paid in full prior to the Commission piece being released. Should final payment not be received within 30 days, the piece will be offered to the wider public.

Please note not all requests are granted.

  • Bec’s Creative Place now offers the magic of print on demand to bring a range of new home decor and gifts.

Print on Demand allows me to focus on what I enjoy most by creating art, while not having to pre-order stock, worry about inventories and all that extra jazz. This way, Im able to upload my high resolution hand-drawn digital designs to the products I want to offer, and when you make a purchase via the website a third party service will automatically take care of production, packing, and shipping to get your item to you.

Print on demand products come direct from the manufacturer/s. Although I aim to support Australian businesses wherever possible, these are primarily located in the US and will take between 10-30 days to reach you. If ordering multiple products please note they may be shipped separately and from different locations, and for this reason may also add to your shipping costs that are automatically calculated at checkout.

  • Due to the nature of my work and products, shipping is varied.

BCP Originals including ceramics, paintings and textiles are available for local pick up in Bindoon WA, or can be posted to Australia or New Zealand based on weight and dimensions.

Print on Demand products such as tote bags, tea towels, etc are shipped directly from the manufacturer. Some Print on Demand products such Framed Canvas’s and Puzzles are also shipped directly from the manufacturer, however at a slightly higher fee.

All these costs are automatically calculated at check-out, but if your buying multiple products, please be aware they are likely to have different shipping requirements and are likely to add to your shipping costs.

Although shipping costs cant be avoided, they can at times be calculated incorrectly. If your shipping costs appear higher than expected, please contact me and I will be happy to review shipping options and charges available to you.
